Charlene Krise is a member and leader of the Squaxin Island Tribe, and the executive director of the Squaxin Island Museum Library and Research Center. Charlene has fished and harvested salmon, clams, and resources in the waters of the Salish Sea for decades, and has fought for tribal fishing rights including during the historic Judge Boldt case. Charlene is an important voice for traditional governance and cultural revitalization among First Nations throughout Salish waters of the Pacific Northwest, she is a leader of traditional canoe voyaging, and a champion of stewarding healthy oceans and ecosystems.
