‘Ana Stringer

'Ana has worked as a college intern at the North Slope Borough Department of Wildlife Management (NSB-DWM) for the past three years, learning about local marine co-management structures and their role in promoting food sovereignty and security throughout the Northern Alaska region. As a Tongan, she is personally invested in the protection of marine spaces, and promoting the governance of Indigenous peoples over these spaces globally. She is a graduate student at UW School of Marine and Environmental Affairs, interested in examining Indigenous marine management structures and approaches, and investigating the role of tribal entities in building long term climate resilience. 'Ana is the 2022-2023 Student Assistant for the Indigenous Aquaculture Collaborative, based at Washington Sea Grant.
