
‘Ana has worked as a college intern at the North Slope Borough Department of Wildlife Management (NSB-DWM) for the past three years, learning about local marine co-management structures and their role in promoting food sovereignty and security throughout the Northern Alaska region. As a Tongan, she is personally invested in the protection of marine spaces and promoting the governance of Indigenous peoples over these spaces globally. She is a graduate student at UW School of Marine and Environmental Affairs, interested in examining Indigenous marine management structures and approaches, and investigating the role of tribal entities in building long-term climate resilience. ‘Ana is the 2022-2023 Student Assistant for the Indigenous Aquaculture Collaborative, based at Washington Sea Grant.
