Kii’iljuus, Barbara Wilson, is the K’uuljaad (Matriarch) of the Sta’w XaaydaGaay (Saw-whet owl People) of the Gamsiiwah territory, Haida Gwaii. Kii’iljuus teaches the resilience links between ancient traditional knowledge of Haida lands and ocean conservation, management, and climate change. She is a published author, earned a MA in Education, works to revitalize and use ancient knowledge to heal intergenerational Indigenous trauma along with relearning all aspects of the Haida Canoe history, navigating, voyaging across the Pacific and the west coast of the Americas. Kii’iljuus is a steering committee member for the Indigenous Aquaculture Collaborative, a bridge between Traditional knowledge holders and western scientists as well as an advisor to graduate students.
